What is Relational Psychotherapy?
Relational psychotherapy looks at how your background and previous experiences are causing you to relate to others in destructive ways that leave you feeling worse off than before. This approach allows you to recognize the role relationships play in shaping your daily experiences in an attempt to help you understand and manage your thought patterns, as well as the feelings you have about yourself.
Who Can Benefit from It?
Anyone who struggles with relating to others or establishing stronger relationships can benefit from relationship psychotherapy, group counselling or one-on-one sessions. Most sessions are geared towards helping participants identify how their anxiety or depression translates to breakdowns in their relationships and/or their inability to connect with others, and in turn managing these compulsions.
How Can We Help?
Levinta Psychotherapy and Counselling’s relationship therapy services help patients:
Gain more emotional and mental energy to appreciate themselves and others
Become more motivated to put in the effort to maintain healthy relationships
Develop better self-esteem
Learn to trust others more and stop pushing people away as a defence mechanism
Our relationship counselling is conducted in a conversational situation. Tell our therapist what’s troubling you, whatever that might be — it could be your depression, stress and anxiety, low-self esteem, or a traumatic experience. If you don’t have a name for it yet, that’s fine, too. You need not know what’s wrong exactly; the root cause of your struggles will emerge naturally as your conversation with the therapist deepens.
During our relationship psychotherapy sessions, we try to understand what you are experiencing. Being understood can make a big difference in how you can understand your emotional patterns, as well as help you learn how you relate with others in a healthy way.
Our therapy sessions revolve around you. Your therapist doesn’t have other specific goals for you other than to help you get better. If you have personal goals, they support your vision for change. If you have any questions about how our process works, tell your therapist about it. We’ll do our best to help you resolve your concerns.
We encourage you to let out all of your thoughts. No matter what issues keep you from appreciating life, we believe that we can work towards a version of you that’s at peace with yourself.
